Who is Bruna and who is Yannick?
I’m Bruna, a 28 years old portuguese/brazilian girl. I was once a lawyer, but today I’m a corporate business woman. I own a clothing brand and I also work in digital marketing.
Yannick is 29 years old. He lives in Zurich, Switzerland and works in the tech area. Yannick loves to do sports and to travel around the globe. He is a family person and loves to spend time with friends.
How did you two meet?
We met in Lisbon back when Yannick was studying. As a foreign, he reach out to me on my instagram so I could help out, giving him some advices on where he could go, places to visit, nice restaurants, etc.
How was the wedding proposal?
It happenned in the Maldives. I was going there on a business trip and Yannick joined me. We end up extending the trip and one afternoon, during a spetacular sunset, it happened! It was awesome!
How did you choose your wedding venue? What mood did you want to create?
We are huge fans of Como, and I always dreamed of getting married in Como. But getting married in Portugal seemed easier… since we we were having guests coming from a lot of places (U.S.A., Switzerland and Brazil) and we thought that adding another country would involve a different logistic. We wanted to create an italian vibe, flowery gardens, simple and elegant.
How was the suppliers’ booking process?
As we were not living in Portugal at the time, we wanted to hire a wedding planner that could manage not only the event, but also the decor, flowers, music, lightning system, etc. Bouquet de Liz seemed the perfect choice, as they are a 360º business that deliver the complete wedding day, and then we met them, and we were 100% happy with our choice.
Jesus Peiro’s dresses were nothing short of perfection. They made me feel like a true princess while also allowing me to be confortable and dance the night away.
Capturing our wedding day was very important to us, but we also wanted to enjoy the day without worrying about posing for pictures or stopping for perfect shots. We were fortunate enough to have an incredible team (Pixel for videography and João Almeida Fotografia for photography), that captured every moment seamlessly without disrupting the flow of the day. Watching our wedding video and looking through the photos allows us to relieve every precious moment, and we are extremely grateful for that!
What were your “must have”?
We surely wanted that our guests would feel welcome and confortable, so having a nice place where they could be accomodated was our main request.
were there any concessions during the planning process?
I honestly don’t recall any concessions… I’m sure we had some but maybe they were not such a big deal for us.
were there any disagreements during the planning proccess?
Since I was responsible for 95% of the planning, there were not big issues. One healthy disagreement that I recall was regarding the welcome dinner. My original idea was to only have a restrict number of guests (parents, bridesmaids and groomsmen), but we end up having a welcome dinner for all our wedding guests.
One funny story…
Not so funny story, but it was a lot of rainy days before the wedding day, so I recall the last week before the wedding to exchange tons of emails with the venue, since they understood was a better option to do an indoors wedding. We said no until the last minute, as we really wanted an outdoor wedding. We even rented some expensive outdoor heaters, but luckily we didn’t have to used them as the day was sunny perfect.
Now that the wedding day is in the past, would you do anything differently?
Honestly I wouldn’t change anything! We had a very intimate wedding with less than 70 guests, which turnout to be a nice vibe, people were very comfortable, and being with everybody within the entire weekend, we were able to spend really quality time with all the guests.
Anything that did overcome your expectations?
I think that everything was better than expected. Everyone who worked with us, specially Bouquet de Liz, they are really amazing. But also all of the other suppliers. The DJ, video, photography, and of course, my wedding dress designer who made it customized for me and was available throughout the entire manufacturing process.
