An unforgettable 2-day wedding in mexico
Some weddings are more than just a day—they’re an experience. And this one? It was something truly special. We had four days before the wedding to soak in the magic of Oaxaca, and we made every second count.
Our adventure started at Monte Albán, once the heart of the Zapotec Empire, where we captured breathtaking moments surrounded by history. From there, we headed to the Mitla ruins, another stunning backdrop. But the real highlight? Hierve el Agua. A place so surreal it almost felt like another planet. The journey there was rough—barely-there roads, navigating local customs—but the reward was one of the most incredible landscapes we’ve ever seen.
Then, came the wedding itself—a two-day whirlwind of love, culture, and celebration.
Day One: The Zapotec Ceremony
The first ceremony was like stepping into another world. Joel got ready in Quinta Real, while Maria was at Casa Oaxaca, on a rooftop overlooking the city. The scenery, the energy, the anticipation—it was all perfect.
Dressed in handmade traditional Zapotec attire, they looked absolutely stunning. The ceremony began at sunset, wrapped in ancient traditions, and words could never fully describe what it felt like to witness it. Afterward, the celebration moved to Jardín Etnobotánico de Oaxaca, one of the most breathtaking gardens in Mexico. The atmosphere? Electric. The party? Unstoppable.
Day Two: A Grand Catholic Wedding & Oaxaca’s Streets Alive
The next day, the Catholic wedding took place at the UNESCO-listed Santo Domingo Cathedral. Joel, in a sharp Hugo Boss suit, waited for Maria as she made her entrance in a breathtaking gown.
But what happened after the ceremony was pure magic. Oaxaca turned into a massive celebration with a colorful, high-energy parade—music, dancing, and an explosion of traditions that made us feel completely immersed in the soul of Mexico. It was a feast for the senses, and we were lucky enough to document every second of it.
We wrapped up this adventure at Parador de Alcalá, in the heart of Oaxaca, surrounded by incredible people and an unbeatable vibe. And at 2 a.m., sitting in a tiny rock bar with burgers and beers, we just looked at each other and smiled. This was why we do what we do. And we can’t wait for the next one.
